Helping Your Child Move, Grow, and Thrive With Pediatric PT

When a child isn’t reaching developmental milestones on time, everyday activities like crawling, walking, and climbing can become a source of worry for parents.

Whether your baby has a gross motor skills delay, your toddler isn’t walking yet, or your child struggles with balance and coordination, our pediatric physical therapy gives families a clear, evidence-based path forward.

At OTogether, our child development physical therapists specialize in early intervention physical therapy – working with infants, toddlers, and children to build the strength, stability, and motor skills they need to participate fully in life.

Who we help:

  • Babies with gross motor skills delays (rolling, sitting, crawling)
  • Toddlers not walking yet, or walking on their toes
  • Infants diagnosed with torticollis or plagiocephaly
  • Children with hypotonia (low muscle tone)
  • Developmental delays related to cerebral palsy
  • Children with dyspraxia or motor planning difficulties
  • Kids struggling with balance, coordination, or postural control
  • Children who have not met age-appropriate developmental milestones

Our four-step approach:

1

Comprehensive Physical Therapy Assessment

We evaluate your child’s gross motor skills, muscle tone, reflexes, range of motion, and developmental milestones to understand exactly where they are – and where they need support.

2

Individualized Pediatric Motor Skills Development Program

Your physical therapist designs a customized treatment plan targeting your child’s specific needs, whether that’s infant torticollis treatment, low muscle tone exercises, or building the strength to walk independently.

3

Play-Based Developmental Physical Therapy Sessions

Through age-appropriate play, tummy time activities, obstacle courses, ball games, and guided movement, we challenge your child’s body in ways that feel like fun – not work. Our therapists are trained in pediatric neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) and other evidence-based techniques.

4

Home Exercise Program & Parent Education

We teach you specific exercises and strategies – from plagiocephaly physical therapy exercises to low muscle tone activities – so progress continues between sessions.

Simply provide us with your insurance details, and we will contact your provider to find out exactly what is covered, including your co-pay or deductible, before your first visit.

Most insurance plans require a formal referral or prescription from a pediatrician to cover occupational therapy. We can coordinate with your doctor’s office to help secure the necessary paperwork once we begin the evaluation process.

OTogether is a registered provider for the Step Up For Students (FES-UA) scholarship. Our team is experienced with the billing portal and will guide you through the process to ensure your child receives the care they need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pediatric developmental physical therapy focuses on helping children who are delayed in reaching movement milestones – like rolling, crawling, standing, and walking. Our physical therapists use play-based techniques and neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) to improve strength, coordination, and motor planning so your child can move confidently and independently.

If your baby isn’t meeting gross motor milestones on time – such as holding their head up, rolling over, sitting, or crawling – a baby physical therapy assessment can identify any underlying delays. Other signs include strong preference for turning the head to one side, low muscle tone (feeling “floppy” when held), or a flat spot on the head (plagiocephaly).

Infant torticollis treatment in PT includes gentle stretching, strengthening exercises, and positioning strategies to help your baby develop full range of motion in their neck. We also address plagiocephaly (flat head) that often accompanies torticollis with targeted physical therapy exercises and parent education on repositioning techniques.

Yes. Hypotonia in babies and children responds well to physical therapy. Our therapists use specific low muscle tone exercises designed to build core strength, improve postural control, and support gross motor development. Early intervention is key – the sooner therapy begins, the more effectively we can support your child’s progress.

Most children walk independently between 9 and 18 months. If your toddler is not walking yet by 18 months, or is showing other signs of motor delay, a pediatric PT evaluation can determine whether physical therapy would help. We see many toddlers who simply need targeted support to build the strength and confidence to take those first steps.

Yes. Our clinic provides specialized pediatric PT for cerebral palsy and dyspraxia. We use neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) and individualized motor skills programs to help children with these conditions improve movement, coordination, and independence in daily activities.

A child’s brain and body are most adaptable in the first few years of life. Early intervention physical therapy takes advantage of this window to address developmental delays before they compound. Starting therapy early often leads to faster progress and better long-term outcomes for motor development.
